Sock...the stitching.

Now that Suck has the success the proprietors of the site so wanted to achieve, it's time for someone to clamp onto their coattails and hang on for dear life.

Every successful entity is invariably followed by an attempt to capitalize on said entity's achievements. This leeching usually takes one of two forms: either a clever knock-off of the original with enough differences to make it legal (e.g. the many juice/iced tea drinks trying to out-Snapple Snapple) or an "add-on" to the original product (e.g. the many how-to computer books now out on the market).

I've melded the two approaches into one: the "Suck for Dimwits" add-on packaged in the Suckish Sock interface, complete with a Java title animation. Why you say? Those same goals the Sucksters had in mind while creating their site: money, power and/or ego-fulfillment.

It's my turn now.

Sock...heel to toe.

The plagiarism continues. I've borrowed (sort of) the names of three famous 15th century boats for the Sock interface:
the nina will bring you to this page.
a pinto houses some quick tips for reading Suck.
an ave maria escorts you to the author's home page.

Unfortunately, Sock does not work with all browsers. Netscape 1.1 works well, Netscape 2.0 works great, and Microsoft Explorer 2.0 works passingly well; it tends to bunch things up a bit. Do yourself a big favor and go get the latest copy of Netscape. It'll be kinda like an early birthday present for yourself.

Sock...the foot.

This web site was written and produced by one individual with a bit too much time on his hands.

Jason Kottke, known in some circles as Derbis, is a neo-renaissance man, jack-of-all-trades but master of none. A renegade from the world of physics, he is now seeking employment in the world of web site design. He is still a big fan of Mr. Rodgers' Neighborhood and believes Dennis Rodman is misunderstood by all the jocks in the NBA and the sports media. Jason's life has had greater meaning since he discovered the joys of phat pants (praise be to Kyle, Mouser, and Aaron) and plans to continue to educate himself in the hopes that there is more to life than what he already knows.

Sock...the loom.
